Welcome to the 2024 Spring Water Polo Season.  This year the registration fee will include a water polo swim suit, latex swim cap and a t-shirt.

MEDICAL WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY

Download the ELAPO Medical Waiver and Release of Liability Form. This form must be read, reviewed and signed by a parent and the student athlete. A signed copy must be submitted to the Head Coach prior to participation.

MEDIA CONSENT AND RELEASE

I am the parent or guardian of this participant, who is a minor child. I give East Lansing Aquatics Parent Organization (ELAPO) and its employees, representatives, and authorized media organizations permission to print, photograph, and record my child/children for use in audio, video, film, or any other electronic, digital and printed media.

I grant this permission with the understanding that neither East Lansing Aquatics Parent Organization (ELAPO) nor its representatives will reproduce the resulting photograph, interview, or likeness for any commercial value or receive monetary gain for use of any reproduction/broadcast of said photograph or likeness. I am also fully aware that I will not receive monetary compensation for my child's/children’s participation.

I further release East Lansing Aquatics Parent Organization (ELAPO), its directors, employees, and other representatives from any liabilities, known or unknown, arising out of the use of this material.

Volunteering duties

I understand that in order to have a successful season, parents are needed to help supply some snacks, work the scoring table, act as timer at meets, and announce games/meets. I also understand that I am expected to participate in these volunteering opportunities. Parents, grandparents, siblings, friends and neighbors are all welcome to fill these duties.

Code of Conduct

EXPECTATIONS This is taken directly from the East Lansing Swim and Dive Handbook. Please review these items with your athlete.

WORK ETHIC As a member of the East Lansing Varsity Swimming and Diving program, our expectations of each individual’s work ethic involve consistency, honest effort, and intensity in all aspects of training. This includes the subjective changes of stroke mechanics and the discipline necessary to maintain these changes. 

ATTITUDE It is our goal to provide a program that is excellent in every regard. We believe that a positive attitude and high level of personal regard are truly important to your success as student athletes. With this philosophy it is important that each athlete maintain a positive mental attitude for themselves, their team, and the program. 

RESPONSIBILTIES As a member of this team, you are representing the entire program of East Lansing High School at all times. Your responsibilities during this representation include: 1) Proper attendance of class, practices, and competitions 2) Positive representation of ELHS in and out of the pool (this includes sportsmanlike conduct, respect for opponents and teammates, and adhering to the ELHS Athletic Code) see following attachment or go to http://elps.k12.mi.us/education/ components/scrapbook/default.php?sectiondetailid=12295& and download the latest version of the East Lansing student athlete handbook) 3) Bullying and/or hazing will not be tolerated by any member of the East Lansing Varsity Swimming and Diving program. 

TRAINING As a member of the East Lansing Swimming and Diving program, all training sessions are a privilege and are a necessary avenue for your success. 

ATTENDANCE POLICY Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for the success of the team. Therefore, we have developed the following attendance policy. 1. You are allowed to miss 5 excused practices during the course of the season. You must explain reason for missing practice to coach ahead of time. Earlier the better. 2. After the 5th missed practice each practice missed will result in a swim meet suspension. 3. After 10 missed practices the athlete could lose their letter (Coaches decision). 4. There shall be no make-up practices. 

TEAM RULES AND DISCIPLINARY ACTION TEAM POLICIES 1. Unexcused absences are not permitted and will result in limited or no participation at upcoming competitions. 2. Alcohol, tobacco, and drug use are not permitted under any circumstances. 3. Do not insult fellow team members. It is not part of a positive team atmosphere. 4. All team members are required to stay at competitions unless released by the Head Coach. 5. The loss of the team Parka will cost the athlete $150.00 once this has been paid the athlete will be allowed to receive their athletic awards for the season. 

DISCIPLINARY ACTION 1. First Violation: Conference with the coaches, possible apology to the team and/or athletic department, and possible suspension from practice and/or competition. 2. Second Violation: Letter of reprimand with copies to the athlete’s parents and athletic department, suspension from team and/or competition. 3. Third Violation: Removal from team. All disciplinary actions are at the discretion of the coaching staff given the above parameters and depend upon the severity of the violation.
