My daughter, Bella, is a swimmer and water polo player. My son, Jackson, is also a swimmer. My family is active in the EL athletics community.
HEYOH!! I’m Heather, the new Veep of this super cool organization. My son, Jonah, will be a sophomore this year and his brother is an 8th grader at MacDonald. Jonah and Fynn began swimming with Coach Laura at Trojan Aquatics in grade school. Jonah is on the Swim & Dive Team, as well as the Boy’s Polo Team. He started playing co-ed polo with Coach Fickies in 8th grade, where they went undefeated and won the State Championship, thereby sealing our fate as year-round chlorine breathers. Fynn is looking at Track and Field this year, so maybe fresh air is in our future!
With two teenagers in the house, my hobbies include driving them around town, buying food, making food, packing food, and ‘cleaning’ out my car for the next meet. We have a golden named Lupin, who just happens to be the best good boy in the world. (Fight me.) He’s my ride or die, so if you see us cruising around town smelling the smells, feel free to make a friend! He thrives on compliments.
Hello! My daughter Sophia will be a Junior this year. She swims, plays water polo and plays the viola in the orchestra. My son Jack, will be a freshman this year. He also swims, plays water polo and lacrosse and plays percussion in the band. After watching my husband coach various teams, on and off, for the past 20+ years, it is very exciting to see our kids playing a sport that we love. We love being a part of this amazing aquatic community. I am an occupational therapist and I work for Ingham Intermediate School District. Listening to music and being in or near water feeds my soul. I also enjoy camping, sea glass and rock hunting and hunting for morel mushrooms. I look forward to serving you all as the new treasurer and helping all of our athletes thrive.
I love the ELAPO board. My daughter, Kate, is a junior this year; she swims and plays water polo for East Lansing. My favorite things about East Lansing Aquatics are the strong sense of community, the developmental approach, and the emphasis on each athlete’s personal goals. I love camping, Lake Michigan, and weirdly long hikes. I’m a school psychologist and I work at Michigan State University.
